U.S. HOUSE DISTRICT 10

3 seek opportunity to take on Tauscher

Three Republicans will battle for a spot on the November ballot to face incumbent Democrat Ellen Tauscher. Republicans lost the 10th District -- which covers parts of Alameda and Contra Costa counties -- in 1996 when Tauscher ousted Bill Baker in a heavily financed campaign that attacked his conservative record on gun control and abortion. This year Gordon Blake, Dennis M. Kilian and Claude B. Hutchison Jr. are vying for a chance to recapture the seat for the GOP. Valerie Janlois of the Natural Law Party is running uncontested.
