The Amsterdam Games

These Games were noteworthy for the triumphant return of Weismuller and Nurmi and the first track and field events for women. (An American -- Elizabeth Robinson -- won the first 100-meter dash for women.) And the Amsterdam Olympiad marked the first modern use of what has become the symbol of the Games -- the Olympic torch.
